Creating a learning culture
We are fully committed to creating a learning culture and empowering people to take ownership of their professional and career development. These personalised learning journeys which include learning through experience, exposure and more formal learning, are supported by our community of line managers.
Skills and Specialism Programme
Our skills and specialism programme supports our people to develop core skills essential for each of our roles and also to develop specialist skills. We prioritise and invest in our people to ensure we nurture talent from within to become the best at what we do and how we work with others. The programme includes an extensive learning and development offer, tailored to individuals, to develop these skills.
We have a range of specialisms such as Design and Engineering, Project, Portfolio and Programme Management, and Marketing, Communication and Engagement. Each specialism has a Community of Practice which has been established to share expertise and development activities. Specialisms include the opportunity to work towards a relevant professional accreditation which are our ‘Gold Standards’. There are incentives for achieving these.
Talent programmes
Every one of our people are talented, and we are committed to supporting our people to develop the knowledge and skills they need both now and in the future. Promoting career progression and diversity in our workforce are key parts of our talent management process and are embedded in all aspects of our talent offer. This includes access to coaching and mentoring programmes, leadership development and apprenticeships.
