Delivering social value
Our Social Value Implementation Programme is reinforcing our strategic objectives and commitment to delivering the most impactful value for society, the economy and the environment through our projects.
We define social value as the benefits created for our people, local communities and client’s workforce.
We are in a unique position to act as place-makers and positively impact our communities through our role in reimagining the UK Government’s office portfolio.
Our placemaking impact does not stop when construction ends. We leverage social value through our supply chain and strategic partners, embedding social value through each stage, from acquisition, design, build and occupation.
We have recently collaborated with charities in Manchester and Croydon to deliver meaningful value to society, along with understanding some of the challenges local communities are facing. These volunteering days focused on planting trees, cutting back scrub and clearing vegetation, along with assisting in the process of recycling plastics in a community workshop space.
We are organising further volunteering opportunities with local charities in the Manchester and Croydon areas – key locations for our Government Hubs. Our people are getting involved through supporting local disability programmes and judging STEM competitions.
Alongside these volunteering opportunities, we are working with our strategic partners to deliver social value across our Capital Projects portfolio. For example, in East Kilbride, we have supported Maxi Construction to employ local employees through the supply chain, use local businesses and donate equipment to community enterprises and community projects.
