Fourteen government buildings were closed last year, contributing to £43.1 million in savings across the government estate in the past year.

Our Annual Report and Accounts (ARA) for 2025/26, published on Monday, shows that four of these buildings were in the capital, as the Plan for London programme continued to make progress. The remaining 10 closures were located across the UK, including in cities such as Leeds, Cardiff and Leicester.

Notable milestones were also achieved through the opening of a new Government Hub, further implementation of property technology and start of construction works at Brunswick Street – the new home of the Darlington Economic Campus.
