The Government Property Agency (GPA) has updated its governance structure after appointing a new board member.

Dominic Arthur has joined the GPA as a Non-Executive Director (NED), taking up the position vacated following the conclusion of Carol Bernard’s tenure.

An existing civil servant, Dominic is currently a Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) where he leads the Synergy Programme.

He has been appointed to the GPA board until July 2029.

Helen Gillett, Interim Chair at the GPA, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Dominic to our board. Dominic’s experience and expertise in strategy, management and operations will further strengthen the governance structure at the GPA. I look forward to working with him and our existing board members to support the GPA’s strategy and mission to create a smaller, better and greener government office estate.”

Dominic said:

“I am very pleased to have been appointed as a Non-Executive Director at the GPA. It is an exciting time to join the agency with its clear vision to transform the government office estate, while providing workspaces that boost the productivity of civil servants across the UK. I now look forward to working alongside my fellow board members and contributing to these aims.”

The GPA board’s principal function is to advise its Chief Executive Officer Mark Bourgeois and the Cabinet Office on the strategic direction of the agency. Its sub-committees also serve as the GPA’s top level of governance and provide an important link to ministers.

As part of his role as a NED, Dominic will chair the GPA’s Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

Prior to his position at DWP, Dominic worked at Director level at the Cabinet Office’s recruitment and pensions teams, before joining the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office where he worked as a COO.
